Tools and Materials for Fence Installation Woodlyn, PA

Types of Fences Woodlyn, PA

Installing a fence in Woodlyn, PA requires careful planning and the selection of appropriate tools and materials to ensure durability and strength. Whether you're aiming for privacy, security, or simply enhancing your property's curb appeal, the correct resources can make all the difference.

Firstly, one must choose the right type of wood, which greatly impacts the longevity of your fence. Options such as cedar and redwood are popular due to their natural resistance to decay. Treated pine is another viable choice because it has been chemically fortified against rotting and pests.

In terms of tools, a post hole digger or auger is essential for creating uniform holes for your fence posts. This tool ensures that each post will be securely anchored into the ground. A level is crucial during installation to verify that posts are perfectly vertical and aligned.

Moreover, concrete mix plays an integral role by solidifying post bases within their holes. It provides stability against strong winds and prevents heaving during freeze-thaw cycles common in Woodlyn's climate. Gravel can also be used at the base for drainage purposes.

Fasteners such as galvanized nails or screws are selected based on their ability to resist rust while holding wooden components together over time. A power drill simplifies this task through efficient drilling and driving screws with precision.

Furthermore, a circular saw or handsaw may be necessary for cutting lumber to specific dimensions during custom installations or adjustments. Safety equipment like gloves, goggles, and ear protection should not be overlooked while operating loud machinery.

To finish off your fence professionally, paint or stain can serve as both an aesthetic touch-up and additional protective layer against weathering elements. The application brushes or sprayers will depend on personal preference for coverage efficiency.

In summary, installing a wooden fence in Woodlyn involves several key materials including sturdy timber like cedar or treated pine; robust tools such as post hole diggers; dependable fasteners; protecting finishes like stains; alongside safety gear to prevent injuries during construction. With these elements combined thoughtfully, one can erect a lasting boundary around their property with confidence.

Angi provided me with several contractors, I received estimates but chose Philz Landscaping (even after coming in higher) because he satisfied with his estimate and start date our fervent desire to complete the project before winter set in. Alex, Javier set the example of professionalism in setting up the area to remove fencing and gate, installed vinyl fence with double gate (assisted by Carlos), removed all debris, left my yard spotless and we are extremely satisfied with the new fence and gate. Questions we had were answered (Helena, Phil) promptly and Alex, Javier went above and beyond ensuring my wife’s concerns were taken care of; I want again to Thank the team at Philz Landscaping and recommend highly to perform your project.

Had Phil and his workers come by my house to work on the backyard in May this year. Eliminate weeds, regrade soil and replant grass seed. 158 feet worth of backyard which he estimated $1600 to do. There was a hiccup with his office and scheduling and he wasn't even aware of the set date in mid-May. He rescheduled for the week after and took off $100 for inconvenience. His crew shows up and does the job and weeks after, grass grew....but not fully in corners of the yard. I called him back, voicemail immediately. Got in touch with his office and they said they would pass the message. His response times are atrocious and I told him about the patches in the grass. He says "no problem I'll send guys to evaluate and re-seed". They show up and do the job again. By mid-July, weeds are growing in very strong and grass is dying at exceedingly high rate despite me watering. I called him back and he says "that's odd, I'll come by this afternoon or tomorrow" in September when I finally get a hold of him. He never shows up or responds to texts or further calls. The photos below are post-lawn work with visible patches and weeds. I had to spend additional monies on top soil, grass seed and water to correct the loss of 50% of the lawn!! If you want an overpriced job not done right, Phil is your guy!!

Philz Landscaping built 2 patios on my property. One is flagstone and the other is pavers with a retaining wall. Both are absolutely beautiful. Working with Phil and his team has been a great experience. I highly recommend this company to anyone looking for reliability, quality, and reasonable pricing.
